Marvel’s Head of Animation Confirms ‘X-Men ’97’ and ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Will Get New Seasons Yearly
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe struggles to regain its footing in theaters, Marvel Animation is thriving.
Following the successful release of What If…?, Marvel Animation successfully launched X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

Earlier this year, Eyes of Wakanda told new stories on the MCU’s Sacred Timeline. Then, late last month, Marvel Zombies broke ground as the first studio’s first TV-MA series.

While it remains to be seen what the future holds for Marvel Zombies, we now have confirmation that two animated series will continue through the foreseeable future.
Two Shows Will Release New Series Yearly
During a recent interview with Directing Film, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, announced that X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released on a yearly basis going forward.

“What’s exciting about the next few years is that we’re going to get subsequent seasons of X-Men ‘97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on an annual cadence. So, every year, there will be a new season, and we can map out a longer arc to those stories.”
While it has long been known that X-Men ’97 would return for a second and third season, and your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man would be back for Season 2, it sounds like fans can expect plenty more of both shows.

Perhaps even more importantly, it appears that Marvel has significant plans to continue investing in animation.
For fans, that is the best news possible.
