‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Creator Jeff Trammell Was Shocked That No Characters Were “Off Limits”
The first two episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man are now streaming on Disney+, and so far, fans seem enthralled with the series.
As we previously explained, the new Spider-Man streaming show was intentionally not set on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Sacred Timeline. This was done to give the team behind the series more creative freedom.

By divesting the show from the Sacred Timeline, the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man team, led by showrunner and creator Jeff Trammell, not only got to tell their own Peter Parker story, but they were also able to include numerous other heroes and villains.

So far, trailers for the series have teased that Daredevil (voiced by Charlie Cox), Doctor Strange, Doctor Octopus, and Scorpion will appear in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

In a recent interview with Marvel.com, Trammell revealed that initially, he thought there would be characters who were “off-limits” for the show due to the complicated rights surrounding Spider-Man characters.
“What do you mean I can use Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in this show! I didn’t expect you to say yes!” Trammell said.

With Disney having more freedom to utilize Spider-Man’s rouge gallery, we should see a wide variety of characters pop up in the animated series.
In the first two episodes, we have already seen Doctor Strange make an appearance and Nico Minoru is introduced.
“I love the Runaways, and being able to pull Nico into this world, it’s a fun experiment,” he says. “Nico has so much history in the comics already. And she and Peter have interacted in various incarnations but always tangentially. So having them on the same page growing up together, seeing how she supports Peter and he supports her, it’s such a fun dynamic.”
