Hugh Jackman Seemingly Confirms That He Will Return as Wolverine
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, it appeared that Hugh Jackman’s time as Wolverine had come to an end.
After portraying the iconic mutant for seventeen years across eight movies, it looked like the actor would hang up his claws after Logan.

Logan (2017)
Directed by James Mangold, the film gave Jackman the perfect swan song, as Wolverine sacrificed his life to save the next generation of mutants.
It was the kind of superhero send off that was unheard, the perfect ending for one of the cineman’s great characters.

Seven years after Logan, however, Jackman decided to suit up again.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
Teaming up with best friend Ryan Reynolds, Jackman reprised his role as the iconic X-Man in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

Not only did the third Deadpool film manage to bring Wolverine back to life through the power of the multiverse, but it did so without undermining the emotional impact of Logan.
Firmly set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Deadpool & Wolverine was a box office blockbuster.

By the time that the film ended its theatrical run, it had earned $1.3 billion and become the highest-grossing R-rated film ever.
After the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, it seemed clear that Marvel would want both Reynolds and Jackman to suit up again.

This time around, Jackman sounds ready to return.
Jackman Teases His Return
During a recent conversation with Cynthia Erivo as part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Jackman was asked if he would play Wolverine again.

The actor all but confirmed that he would.
“It doesn’t feel like the end. It really felt like the end after Logan. Actually, I needed to claim it as the end, because I really believed in some things that I wanted that movie to be, and I had to fight for them. I had to say, ‘This is the last time I’m doing it,'” he said.

“Then when I saw Deadpool, I was like, ‘Oh. I see 48 Hrs. I see Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte.’ But I would shove it down. ‘I’ve told everyone that I’m done. I’m not one of those guys.’ Then I went, ‘You know what? I change my mind. It’s not that big of a deal. I’m not even gonna say I’m sorry.’ And it was so awesome.”
When Will We See Wolverine?
With the Marvel multiverse set to come together for the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, it would not be surprising to see Jackman pop back up soon.

It should be noted, however, that while most of his Fox X-Men co-stars were revealed as part of the Dooomsday cast, Jackman was not.
For now, we will have to wait and see.
