Will Wonder Man Join the Avengers?
The next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will unfold when Wonder Man premieres on Disney+ later this month.
The eight-episode series will tell the story of Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling actor who eventually gains superpowers.

“Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film ‘Wonder Man’,” the series’ synopsis reads.

“These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.”
What’s Next For Simon Williams
While fans still have five days to wait for Wonder Man to premiere on Disney+, many have already begun speculating about what the future holds for Simon Williams.

With the multiverse set to collide during the events of Avengers: Doomsday, some are wondering whether Wonder Man could eventually suit up alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, Wonder Man head writer Andrew Guest weighed in on the possibility that Simon Williams’ story could continue beyond the series.

According to Guest, the decision ultimately rests with audiences.
“I think Marvel’s approach to this is let each project stand on its own, and if an audience connects with it and if they connect with the character, then they can figure out how to keep using them,” Guest revealed.

“As we just discussed, Trevor Slattery, maybe you thought he would be a one-and-done after Iron Man 3, but Destin (Daniel Cretton) was able to bring him into Shang-Chi and find a whole other side of him. I was so thrilled to get to use that same character again, so hopefully, people fall in love with Simon Williams, and he can continue to live on.”
The Problem
While there is certainly a chance that fans will embrace Wonder Man, Marvel’s release strategy for the series does not inspire confidence.

Created during a different era of Marvel television and plagued by multiple delays, Wonder Man feels, in many ways, like a relic of an earlier plan.
Additionally, Marvel has opted to release all eight episodes at once. That decision is concerning.
