Work Is Officially Underway on ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 4
Over two years after X-Men ’97 took the streaming world by storm, the fan-favorite animated series will return on July 1 with its highly anticipated second season.
The first season of the streaming show managed to revive the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series nearly 30 years after the original series ended. Appealing to fans of the original show while also introducing the characters to a new generation, X-Men ’97 was a triumph for Marvel Animation.

It was quickly announced that a second season was in development.
New Seasons Will Debut Yearly
Late last year, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, announced that X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man would be released on a yearly basis going forward.

Now, we have a better idea of Marvel’s plans for the former series.
Work on Season 3 and Season 4 Is Underway
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly today, X-Men ’97 executive producer and director of the original animated series, Larry Houston, revealed that production on Season 3 of the series is already well underway.
Additionally, Marvel has already started working on Season 4.
“They want everyone to know it’s only gonna be a year now between seasons, not two-and-a-quarter years,” he said.
“It’s gonna be a year until the next one and a year until the next one [after that]. They are on schedule now. One of the reasons they’re on schedule is we’ve gone over, given notes on, responded to not only all the scripts for season 3, all the animatics for season 3, we are in season 4 giving script notes. So that’s how deep they are into the development.”

While Marvel fans knew that X-Men ’97 was not going to end after Season 2, we now have at least two additional seasons of the series to look forward to.
That should give fans every reason to be excited.
