Shawn Levy Says It Took “Six Minutes” For Ryan Gosling to Convince Him to Direct ‘Ghost Rider’

To bring Ghost Rider to life, Marvel is turning to Shawn Levy, who previously directed Deadpool & Wolverine and worked with Gosling on Starfighter.

“I’m having the greatest flashback vibes here, because I was here two years ago when we showed ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’” Levy said upon taking the Hall H stage alongside Gosling and Feige.

“I’ll never forget that night, because I was introduced to the greatest fans. Gosling is the absolute [man]. I say that with tremendous respect. We spent a lot of time last year making ‘Starfighter,’ and the opportunity as Ryan started talking about this character, I was like, ‘Bro let’s ride.’ We’ll see you in 2028!”

As it turns out, getting Levy on board was a breeze.

During a recent interview with PEOPLE, Shawn Levy recalled the moment Gosling pitched Ghost Rider to him.

“Literally six minutes into him telling me about it, I’m like, ‘Yeah, let’s go. We’re doing that.’ We walked it into Kevin Feige, and here we are.”

With Ghost Rider set to hit theaters next year, Levy and Gosling will have to work quickly.
