You Can Be a Marvel Supervillain!
Ravensberger has introduced a new version of its wildly popular game. The new game, called Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power, allows players to take on the persona of one of Marvel’s supervillains!
If you like board games (as my family does), Disney’s Villainous is one of the best! It definitely requires a commitment to get to know the intricacies of how to play, but once you understand, it’s tons of fun!
You Can Be a Marvel Supervillain!
Taking on the persona of a Disney villain is exciting in and of itself. Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power now gives players the opportunity to become a Marvel supervillain, choosing from Thanos, Ultron, Hela, Killmonger, or Taskmaster.
Villainous is an interesting game. While the villains are vying against one another, they also must work together to stop the heroes from defeating them.
How to Play
In order to play, you must first choose which villain you’d like to control. Each has its own distinct goal he/she is trying to accomplish before the other player(s) achieves theirs.
Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power comes with boards that contain four different locations, each of which has activities the player can enact during their turn. Each character also has a unique deck of cards (Allies, Items, Effects, and Specialities) that work with the board to help the player achieve their goal.
Unique to Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power is a Fate deck utilized by all players. In previous versions of the game, each character had their own specialized Fate deck, the intent of which is to prevent players from achieving their goal. In this game, there is, instead, a common Fate deck comprised of cards both specific to villains in the game, as well as cards containing heroes such as Captain Marvel and Thor.
Also different in this version of Villainous are the Event cards contained in the Fate deck. There are two types – common Events and Events specific to a character. Each event has a penalty that is active as long as it’s on the board. Players may commit allies together to clear an Event, and any player who assists receives some type of reward.
Winning the Game
The key to winning this – and previous versions – of Villainous is how quickly you can cycle through your deck of cards and achieve your villain’s goal. Some of the characters must complete a series of tasks, while others must collect items of have a certain number of Allies in play.
Thanos is the most difficult to play, as his goal is fittingly to collect the Infinity Stones. In order to collect the stones, he must invade other players’ domains and defeat their allies.
Designed for Movie & Comic Fans
Filed with obscure characters, the new board game will certainly appeal to a wide array of Marvel fans. Those that follow the Marvel Cinematic Universe will appreciate the games’ story lines. Comic book fans will be equally satisfied, as they will be treated to appearances by obscure characters, like Leah and Butterball.
