Black Panther & Chadwick Boseman Tribute Top Sunday Ratings
After Chadwick Boseman passed away from colon cancer on Friday, ABC aired A Tribute For A King to the actor and a special commercial-free showing of Black Panther on Sunday night. The film and tribute topped Sunday ratings.
Stars Share their Love
Both the tribute and movie earned huge ratings on the Disney-owned network. Stars like Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Winston Duke, and Don Cheadle joined the tribute to talk about how their fellow avenger left a legacy behind.
Robert Downey Jr said during the tribute that Chadwick Boseman’s passing has left a void now. Marvel head Kevin Feige, Whoppie Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Disney’s Bob Iger also joined the conversation.
He was having this immense success, in a strata of his own, humble hardworking, always smile on his face, Black Panther was hands down the crowning achievement of the marvel universe. The one where people got to vote with ticket sales we require this. It is a fantastic movie that leveled the playing field.
Robert Downey Jr. said of Chadwick Boseman
The movie and tribute topped Sunday evening ratings with 6.1 million and 4.7 million viewers respectively. Both also took the number one and number two spots in ratings.
