Thor 4: Natalie Portman Filming in Australia

Thor: Love and Thunder is finally filming in Australia. And with Thor 4 movie finally in production, a new series of behind-the-scenes photos provides a glimpse at the characters in the movie. Although we already know Natalie Portman is returning as Jane Foster, the latest photos provide the first look at the character on set.

Thor: Love and Thunder Begins Filming

Earlier this year, the fourth installment of the Thor franchise begun filming in Australia. And with the fourth Thor movie, which is directed by Taika Waititi, kicking off filming, more and more MCU stars have been seen in Australia.

Both Waititi and Thor star Chris Hemsworth already arrived on set as well as Guardians of the Galaxy stars, Chris Pratt and Karen Gillan. The surprise casting addition of Matt Damon also arrived on set earlier this year.

So far, there are no signs of Love and Thunder co-stars Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale on set, but that should change in the coming weeks as filming progresses.

Natalie Portman Lands in Australia

In Portman’s photo, she is seen riding a horse, but with few details to give the scene context. Compared to the other photos, Portman’s the only actor in a face mask, but whether it’s relevant to the plot (or the pandemic) remains to be seen.

Although it was announced during the 2019 Comic-Con International in San Diego that Portman was returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a major way. But, thus far, the production on Love and Thunder has been delayed due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

Excitingly, the most recent set photos mean the Academy Award winner is officially filming her first MCU movie in over a decade.

Jane Foster’s Triumphant Return as Thor

While Foster appeared in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios re-used old footage of Portman for the scenes. Thus, she hasn’t been in an MCU film since Thor 2: Dark World. Because, if you recall, Foster missed out on Thor’s third film, Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Love and Thunder will see Foster inherit the mantle of Thor and become a superhero in her own right. And with Portman hitting the gym to get mighty for the film – the world will be in safe hands.
