REVIEW: Cozy Up to Heroes at Home
If you’re looking for a sweet picture book-style comic from some of your favorite Marvel Comics creators, Heroes at Home could be for you! This mini-comic was published last year and follows the lives of your favorite Marvel superheroes as they pass the time during quarantine, and since it’s been so popular at our local comic shop lately, we thought we would check it out!
Heroes, They’re Just Like Us
Heroes at Home was written by Zeb Wells and features art by Gurihiru (Thor & Loki: Double Trouble) with letters by Joe Sabino and Jay Bowen.
Over the course of the book, you get to see brief, funny comics that explore what several major Marvel Comics characters spent their time doing under quarantine, including Peter Parker (A.K.A. Spider-Man), Black Panther, Captain Marvel, the Incredible Hulk, Venom, and ol’ short, hairy, and pointy himself, Logan (that’s Wolverine to you, bub)!
The best part about these comics is how they take the sometimes harsh realities of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – like being separated from your friends and teammates, or being unable to get toilet paper, or learning how to cook – and turn them into relatable (but fun and silly) comic adventures.
And plus, there can be no better model for proper pandemic behavior than the heroic characters on the Marvel Comics roster in Heroes at Home!
Where’s Jeff the Land Shark?
If you have been following our Marvel Comics coverage here at Marvel Blog, you probably know that one of our favorite characters is Gwenpool, and although she doesn’t make an appearance herself, her trusty pet land shark, Jeff, is hidden in each of the stories… giving you the perfect excuse to return to this adorable book again and again!
And hey, you can’t blame Jeff for wandering off – who wouldn’t want to get lost in the amazing Marvel art of Gurihiru?
Will you be checking out Heroes at Home next time you make a trip to pick up comics at your LCS, or on the Marvel Unlimited app? Marvel Blog wants to hear from you! Let us know in the comments.
