REVIEW: Something’s Rotten in Siege Society #1
In Siege Society #1 by Cody Ziglar, Paco Medina, Pete Pantazis, and Joe Sabino, with a cover by Ken Lashley and Brian Reber, the foundations laid by previous entries in the Heroes Reborn event begin to collide with one another in a violent, deadly fashion! You won’t have any idea who you’re supposed to be rooting for in Siege Society #1!

Who’s the Bad Guy? (Duh.)
Siege Society #1 is a somewhat complicated issue, for a lot of reasons!
First of all, you’ll want to make sure you’ve read previous entries in the Heroes Reborn saga before you pick this up. That’s because you’ll need the context you’ve gotten from issues like Heroes Reborn #3, which finally fully introduced readers to the Blur and the Silver Witch, who both play a significant role in this issue.

Plus, you’ll want to know everything you can about this timeline’s version of Hyperion and Nighthawk, as well, who also play an important role in the proceedings (especially the third act).

However, from the first few pages of Siege Society #1 you may be scratching your head and wondering who you are supposed to be rooting for…
While we do have a slightly different version of Baron Zemo here, he doesn’t dance, he’s just an unabashed fascist. And while he’s leading a team of characters who may resemble some members of the Avengers in the 616, we already know that many of their stories have been changed… and if they’re on a team led by Zemo, perhaps so have their alignments!

Making the story even more complicated still is the fact that there are references to stories we were never told (because they took place earlier on this alternate timeline). This technique has been very effective in making the Heroes Reborn story seem as though it stretches beyond its narrative boundaries, and it proves effective here, as well.

I Finally Found Mephisto!
I won’t explicitly spoil the ending for you, but rest assured that this is a grim conclusion… and hey, why were we looking for Mephisto so hard in Westview when he was hiding in Heroes Reborn the whole time?
