New Shang-Chi Poster Confirms Exclusive Theatrical Release

In a series of Tweets sent on Thursday, August 5th, 2021, the official Marvel Entertainment Twitter account revealed a set of all-new character posters, featuring the stars of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie that will arrive exclusively in theaters on September 3rd, 2021.

The series of Tweets doubles as confirmation that Shang-Chi will be released only in theaters, without a simultaneous Premier Access release on Disney+, something that’s kind of unfortunate for high risk fans like myself…

Shang-Chi Poster: Still in Theaters

After Black Widow actor Scarlett Johansson unfurled an extremely high-profile lawsuit against Disney for releasing the movie simultaneously on Disney+ and in theaters, some wondered whether Shang-Chi would be the recipient of similar treatment.

However, it seems as though in spite of the rising number of cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the United States, Shang-Chi will only be released in theaters… at least that’s what the new Shang-Chi poster seems to confirm.

This is a personal disappointment, Marvel Blog True Believers, because it means as an immunocompromised fan, I won’t be able to see the movie until it is available for streaming. As soon as that transpires, you can expect to see plenty of additional coverage of Shang-Chi here at Marvel Blog!

As a huge fan of Simu Liu, I do not want to wait but that’s the doctor’s orders as a high risk patient, and rest assured that the minute premiere access is available for Shang-Chi, I will be leaping at the opportunity to cover it in full. Until then, maybe I will check my mailbox for an invitation to see a private screening of the movie at one of the mansions in ScarJo’s portfolio of personal properties (she owns real estate from coast to coast, Marvel Blog True Believers).
