In a post made to Twitter on Sunday, August 8th, 2021, record company 88Rising released the details on the lead single for the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings soundtrack, titled “Lazy Susan.” Then, the single unexpectedly dropped on YouTube on August 9th, 2021, a day ahead of what was originally said on the record company’s Twitter account.
“Lazy Susan”
The initial Twitter post included a picture of a Lazy Susan stocked to the brim with a lavish golden meal, along with relevant symbols, including the titular Ten Rings, as well as the artists whose talents went into the making of the soundtrack.

88Rising
88Rising, stylized as 88↑, was established in 2015 by Sean Miyashiro. In an interview with AdAge in 2018, Miyashiro stated that he wanted to build “Disney for Asian culture,” and hey, it looks like that’s going pretty well for him, doesn’t it?
In 2019, DJBooth named 88↑ as one its top eight most influential rap collectives of the 2010s.
In 2020, 88↑ was forced to cancel the Head in the Clouds festival as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, the collective pivoted to host the Asia Forever Festival, which was streamed online, instead.
Brian, who is one of the artists featured on “Lazy Susan,” was one of the performers featured at that festival, which took place on May 6th, 2020.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Currently, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is still scheduled for release exclusively in theaters on September 3rd, 2021, in spite of rising infection rates caused by the delta variant of the COVID-19 virus.
Will Shang-Chi be simultaneously released for streaming on Disney+ when it arrives on September 3rd? There’s been no official confirmation yet, Marvel Blog True Believers, but as an immunocompromised person who is dying to see this movie, I sure hope so!
