Halftime Report: War of the Bounty Hunters All-Stars
This week, there are no new issues being released in the ongoing Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters comic event from Marvel Comics, and I’m really missing a galaxy far, far away, Marvel Blog True Believers!
This event has had at least one tie-in issue a week since War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha was released on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021, and it has been one wild ride! After the carbonite-frozen remains of Han Solo were stolen from Boba Fett in the first issue, the events have snowballed, pulling in characters from every corner of the Star Wars galaxy. In fact, that’s one of my favorite things about the ongoing series!
War of the Bounty Hunters
Week after week, this story has done a great job of tying together the many different threads that make up the Star Wars galaxy. From The Mandalorian to Doctor Aphra, from Solo to The Rise of Skywalker, from prequel trilogy to sequel trilogy, this event really feels like it pulls from all kinds of Star Wars stories.
And let me tell you, Marvel Blog True Believers, there are many Star Wars stories that are very selective in the canon they incorporate, so this widespread integration is really something special!
I also appreciate the way that the tie-in issues have been used to fully explore side-characters.
For example, in 4-Lom & Zuckuss #1, the dynamic between the two characters was fully explored, and a narrative tesseract from War of the Bounty Hunters #1 to Bounty Hunters #15 was created!
Available Soon on Marvel Unlimited
If you haven’t had a chance to read any of War of the Bounty Hunters yet, now is the ideal time to get on-board! That’s because the first issue of the event, War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha by Charles Soule, Steve McNiven, Laura Martin, and Travis Lanham, arrives on the Marvel Unlimited app this week. Now is the perfect time to start catching up with the excellent story, which is surely going to be blown wide open in the coming weeks.
