Josh Brolin Reprises His THANOS Role (Sorta)
Have you watched the second episode of What If…? on Disney+, Marvel Blog True Believers? In “What If… T’Challa had Become a Star-Lord,” we get to see the far-reaching implications of what would have happened to Yondu (Michael Rooker) and his crew of Ravagers had picked up T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) in 1988 instead of Peter Quill.
However, one of the most surprising elements of this story may have been some of the additional members of T’Challa’s Ravager’s crew!

Interview with Polygon
As those who have seen the episode are already aware, in this timeline, T’Challa’s effective arguments have convinced Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, that killing half the universe is not the most effective way to make it a better palace.
In an interview with Polygon, What If…? executive producer Brad Winderbaum explained the character’s dynamic in this re-imagined galaxy.
“And at least for the duration of this story that we’re telling, Thanos seems to have a different outlook on life in the universe,” Winderbaum told Polygon.
“But part of the fun of Ravager Thanos is that he’s always right there on the razor’s edge of maybe slipping back into his genocidal maniac scheme. Some of the funniest parts are when he’s trying to justify it to the people around him.”
Thanos in Wakanda
In the final moments of the episode, we see Thanos being welcomed to Wakanda not as an invading villain, but as an honored dinner guest. It’s a very far cry from the showdown outside Wakanda near the end of Avengers: Infinity War… At least, in this universe, it seems as though one person really can make a difference!
