No, MORE Wanda: AVENGERS Variant Incoming!
In a tweet sent on Friday, September 17th, 2021, Marvel Comics cover artist Russell Dauterman revealed a variant cover for Avengers Forever #1, arriving at your local comic shop (LCS) in December 2021, but already available for pre-order through Previews World… and, be still my Scarlet Witch-obsessed heart… it’s all about WANDA!

The variant cover features a plethora of Wandas (yes, even a few evil ones). They are depicted in her many different costumes over the years, and floating in some kind of wonderful Wanda world!
Justice for the Scarlet Witch
As even the most casual Marvel Blog True Believers will already be aware, Wanda is my very favorite character in all of Marvel Comics… but I do sometimes get frustrated when she doesn’t get her due!
Because of her reality-warping powers, it’s hard to argue that the Scarlet Witch isn’t among the most powerful characters in the whole Marvel multiverse. However, in the hands of certain creatives – usually insecure men – she has frequently been mistreated!
As Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) declared in the series finale of WandaVision, “Same story, different century: there will always be torches and pitchforks for ladies like us, Wanda.”
For this reason, I was very disappointed to learn that a storyline called The Trial of Magneto, which sees Wanda being murdered AGAIN, was going to be released from Marvel Comics this year… Especially after we got to see the character ascend to greatness in early 2021 thanks to WandaVision.
But hopefully, she will ascend once again in The Darkhold Alpha #1 by Steve Orlando and Cian Tormey, two creators who can be trusted by Ms. Maximoff.
More Wanda Please
However, if Marvel Comics wants to make it up to me and the Scarlet Witch’s legions of fans by releasing more incredible variant covers like this one, well, I’m not going to be complaining about that!
My favorite type of variant cover to collect is any one that features Wanda, and I’m looking forward to adding this gorgeous cover by Dauterman to my collection!
