New WHAT IF Poster Teases PARTY THOR
In a tweet sent on Monday, September 20th, 2021, a poster for this week’s brand-new episode of the animated Marvel Cinematic Universe series What If…? on Disney+ was released, and this one features an incarnation of the God of Thunder that has been on our radar for a while now: Party Thor!

Party Thor Arrives
We first got a glimpse of Party Thor back in April 2021, when this version of the Asgardian prince was revealed via some of the first What If…? merch to be released ahead of the series premiere!
While we don’t know much about the circumstances that lead to this version of Thor, we can make a few observations based on his appearance. For one thing, he reminds us an awful lot of the version of Thor we saw in Loki’s play in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.
That version of Thor wasn’t played by Chris Hemsworth, he was actually played by his older brother Luke Hemsworth (who you may want to note is supposed to return for Thor: Love and Thunder, Marvel Blog True Believers, along with Loki cosplayer Matt Damon).
Party Thor Galore
And there’s one other place we’ve seen Party Thor so far, Marvel Blog True Believers: in the What If…? Hyundai commercial! In this animated clip, which we first covered here at Marvel Blog in mid-August 2021, we had our first glimpse at Party Thor in action as he saved the other heroes in Hyundai!
So how does he do it? In this commercial, Party Thor can be seen spinning Mjolnir as he does donuts in a Hyundai… LOOK, he’s living up the Party Thor sobriquet, okay?
What If…? Wednesdays
The next episode of What If…?, which will apparently feature Party Thor himself, will arrive for streaming on Disney+ tomorrow, Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021!
Will you be tuning in to watch when it’s released? Which of the remaining hinted-at What If…? episodes are you most excited to watch (and is it, “Tony Stark goes to Sakaar”)?
