LGBTQ+ EP Victoria Alonso Promoted at Marvel Studios
In an article posted to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, September 20th, 2021, it was reported that Victoria Alonso has been promoted at Marvel Studios.
Now, Alonso will carry the title of president, physical and postproduction, visual effects, and animation production for Marvel Studios. I believe this makes the Argentine-born Alonso one of the first LGBTQ+ women to hold such a title in the film industry. In her new role, she will work across Marvel Studios’ entire slate of film and television series.
Alonso All Along
If the name “Alonso” sounds familiar to you, Marvel Blog True Believers, that’s absolutely no surprise: the executive has been working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception, having served as producer for the first Iron Man, the movie that launched the MCU, and as executive producer on every film since.

“She is one of the most dynamic, candid and accessible executives in the industry, and we’re thrilled that she’ll continue to be by our side in this elevated role as we lead Marvel Studios into the future,” stated Marvel Studios Head-Boss-in-Charge Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito, the latter of which to whom she will continue to report.

Alonso first joined Marvel Studios in 2006, in advance of the release of Iron Man in 2008, on which she served as producer. After serving as producer on Iron Man 2 in 2010, Thor in 2011, and Captain America: The First Avenger (also in 2011), Alonso was promoted to the role of executive producer on The Avengers in 2012.
And as noted by THR, Alonso will maintain the title of executive producer for the highly anticipated upcoming MCU movies, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Eternals, and Thor: Love and Thunder.

More Marvel on the Way
In the quotes included in the article, it’s clear that Alonso is looking forward to telling many more stories in the MCU… and considering the ones we’ve seen (and those just around the corner), that’s very good news, indeed, especially considering the producer has been outspoken for the need for more rep in the past!
Which one of the upcoming MCU movies executive produced by Alonso are you most excited to see, Marvel Blog True Believers? We want to hear from you! Let us know in the comment section.
