Happy Birthday Marvelous Brie Larson!
Today is Friday, October 1st, 2021, and that means it’s Brie Larson’s birthday! The actor plays Carol “Captain Marvel” Danvers on the big screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Captain Marvel
Larson first played the role of Carol Danvers in the 2019 origin story Captain Marvel.
In that movie, which was released between 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War (which saw Nick Fury summoning Danvers using a souped-up pager as he turned to dust during a mid-credits sequence) and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame (which saw Danvers saving Tony Stark’s frozen Iron-Butt when he got in way over his head fighting Thanos), we learn about how Danvers got her superhuman abilities.
While Endgame was mostly set in the present day (give or take five years), Captain Marvel was a “flashback movie,” set during the 1990s (hence the scene where Danvers crash-lands in a Blockbuster Video store).
Larson, Our Hero
Even before she played the role of Danvers, Larson was stealing our hearts playing roles that originated in the panels of a comic book! You might remember her soundtrack-stealing turn in 2010’s Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, or if not, you might remember the recent re-release of a newly remastered single from Metric ft. Larson performing “Black Sheep.”
And did someone say “birthday biceps”? During the past year, Larson has made no secret of the fact that she has been working closely with her Captain Marvel personal trainer in anticipation of The Marvels, which is currently in production. Maybe that’s what her new hobby is about?

Speaking of which, she’s described the set of The Marvels as her own “private Disneyland.” Pretty neat, Marvel Blog True Believers!
In her spare time, Larson likes to chill on her Animal Crossing island. Her very own virtual private Disneyland.
Maybe for her birthday party she’ll find time to visit Simu Liu, the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star who also plays the game. And speaking of Shang-Chi, Larson has previously worked with her good friend, the director, Destin Daniel Cretin, on movies like Short Term 12.
(This sort of explains Larson’s recent cameo, doesn’t it?)
As far as extra-Marvel work goes, earlier this year, it was announced that Larson would be starring in and executive producing Lessons in Chemistry for Apple TV.
