REVIEW: Gory Giggles Galore in Deadpool: Black, White, & Blood #3
You know the drill by now, Marvel Blog True Believers: Deadpool: Black, White, & Blood #3 is the third book in this miniseries that puts Deadpool into hilarious and gory situations… all while only using the colors black, white, and red! This issue might be the goriest and funniest yet, so let’s dive right into the stories.
“The Worst Convent in the World”
In the first story, by Jay Baruchel, Paco Medina, Federico Blee, and Joe Sabino, we get to see Deadpool take on a convent filled with Nazis disguised as nuns.
Look, if that doesn’t sell you on this issue alone, I don’t know what to tell you. ‘Nuff said!
However, it is a neat feature that this story is set during a past period of Deadpool’s life, back when he had Madcap as a voice in his head… (for an explanation on this confusing statement, see 2013’s Deadpool Annual #1 by Ben Acker, Ben Blacker, Evan Shaner, Veronica Gandini, and Sabino, with a main cover by Tradd Moore and Jordie Bellaire, an issue you can read right now on Marvel Unlimited).
“The Bet”
In the second story, by Frank Tieri, Takaski Okazaki, and Sabino, Deadpool and his old “buddy” Bullseye are both competing for the same bounty! This story is filled with hilarious dialogue as the two frenemies banter their way through some visually impressive battles.
Plus, I loved the surprise cameo at the conclusion of this issue, which perfectly suits the “Wade’s old acquaintances” vibe.
“The Perfect Ones”
And in the final story, by Stan Sakai with colors by Rachelle Roseberg, we get a cute, cartoon-y story about how Deadpool got his trademark katanas!
I don’t think this one is canon, Marvel Blog True Believers, but it sure is a lot of fun… And Sakai is a cartooning legend, so it’s great to see him working on one of Marvel’s finest… uh… Deadpools!
