Hawkeye TV Spot Offers First-Look at Echo and Clown!
Have you been watching broadcast television instead of just streaming lately? If so, you may have had the chance to see a new TV spot hyping up the fall release of the Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Hawkeye! Closely adapted from the 2015 Marvel Comics run of the eponymous series by Matt Fraction and David Aja, there are several new nuggets of information to be found in this not-yet-released online commercial, including a glimpse at Clown and Echo!

Hawkeye
One of the most remarkable things about this TV spot is that it’s one of the first to officially introduce Marvel fans to two of the new characters appearing in the Disney+ show! Although Marvel has already confirmed that the series will introduce new characters, each of whom may have a major impact on Barton’s life if the comic storylines are any indication, fans have yet to see them in much promotional material.
The first new character is Echo (A.K.A. Maya Lopez), a Deaf superhero who can perfectly copy another person’s movements, played by Alaqua Cox. In the comics, Lopez’s storyline is intimately tied to Matt Murdock’s storyline. Lopez is raised by Wilson Fisk (A.K.A., Kingpin), and she eventually falls in love with Murdock and becomes Echo. This character will be getting her own spinoff series, so you can expect that she has a significant role in Hawkeye‘s proceedings!
Then there’s Clown, A.K.A. Kazimierz Kazimierczak, played by Fra Fee. In the comics, Clown has a long criminal history, and he really enjoys taking lives (he is part of a team lead by Zodiac to give you a hint). He is best known for stabbing Barton in the ears with his own arrows, a violent act which leaves the former Avenger with severe hearing loss, while working for the Tracksuit Draculas in Hawkeye #15.
In fact, the television spot teased this scene. If you look in Hawkeye’s ear, you can see a hearing aid, which is something the character has never used before.
This is likely how Echo (and dare I say it, Daredevil) will come into the fray. However, from the looks of the footage, things may be a little more complicated in the series. Since Clown and Echo are shown together in the new footage, some fans are speculating that they are currently working with Kingpin, which would make sense given Echo’s origin story.
While the commercial only shows these two characters briefly, it gives us our first glimpse of some of the extended cast for the Hawkeye series in costume!
In addition to Clown and Echo, the television spot also included extended footage of the Tracksuit Draculas in action.
And it looks just like a scene out of 2015’s Hawkeye comic! See it for yourself, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Pizza Dog Wears a Santa Hat
Speaking of the extended Hawkeye cast in costume, this clip also includes a shot of Pizza Dog (A.K.A. Lucky), a character played by Jolt the Golden Retriever. In this clip, he appears in a festive reindeer outfit, despite his missing eye!
We have known for a long time that Pizza Dog will appear in Hawkeye, but we probably haven’t seen much of him in the advertising yet – probably because they expect him to be a breakout hit, just like Baby Yoda or Dancing Daddy Zemo.
Plus, at Marvel Blog, we kind of hope we get some Marvel Must Haves merch drops based entirely around Lucky! Bring on the Pizza Dog!
