What If…? Miles Morales Revealed!
Yesterday here at Marvel Blog, we reported on an enigmatic Tweet from the official Marvel Entertainment Twitter account, one that showed off a brand-new (but strangely familiar) Marvel superhero. Later in the day, a subsequent post revealed just what we were looking at: an alternate-timeline version of Miles Morales, one of many who we will be meeting when What If…? Miles Morales debuts in March 2022!
What If…? Miles Morales
First and foremost, the article on Marvel.com confirms that the Miles we were looking at yesterday answers the question, “What If… Miles Morales was Wolverine?”
However, the first issue of the series will answer a different question when it launches in March: “What If… Miles Morales was Captain America?” The story will be written by Cody Ziglar and illustrated by Paco Medina, with our first look at this incarnation of the character coming from the main cover by Sara Pichelli (and in case you forgot, Marvel Blog True Believers, Pichelli was the co-creator of Miles Morales with Brian Michael Bendis, so the fact that she created this cover is pretty freaking cool).
This first issue will show us what would have happened if, instead of being bitten by a genetically enhanced spider, Miles Morales had been recruited by the U.S. Government and given an apparently effective version of the super solider serum.
The cover also includes another character, wearing an outfit that is very similar to the one Sam Wilson wears as Captain America (you might remember it from the season finale of Captain America and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Blog True Believers). Who is this character and how will they play into the story? I’m very excited to find out!
Miles to Go Before We Sleep
While the first issue will feature Ziglar and Medina on Miles as Cap, the article promises subsequent issues will pair all-new, all-different all-star creators to tell more exciting What If…? stories. Will you be picking them up when they arrive at your local comic shop? Let us know in the comment section!
