REVIEW: The Spine-Tingling Spider-Man #2
In the second episode of the spookifying Spine-Tingling Spider-Man Infinity Comic by Saladin Ahmed, Juan Ferreyra, and Joe Sabino, we get to see more of what happens when Peter Parker gets a sinister song stuck in his head!
Spine-Tingling Music
As you’ll recall if you read the first episode of this Infinity Comic, Parker has a mysterious song stuck in his head, with some really messed-up lyrics! He doesn’t know where it came from or who put it there, but it’s starting to get in the way of his superheroing career.
This episode once again takes great advantage of the scrolling Infinity Comics format, but in a different way than the first one did. While the opening episode focused on how the scrolling format could emphasize Spidey’s web-swinging, the second episode shows you how you can use the format to show the scale of buildings – which is especially cool when Spidey is wall-crawling down to the street!
I also liked the way this episode showed how close to the end of his rope Peter is as a result of this horrible song! In one scene, a man has to stop Parker from bothering an old woman (who was apparently just humming the Beatles). Peter is supposed to help old ladies, not harass them! Let’s hope Parker can pull out of this okay!
But in spite of moments like this, it is still out Peter! For example, he is brought back to earth in one scene because a mother points out that her son has the same problem as Peter, and Peter’s desire to help others shines through. You’re a good boy, Pete! Don’t ever change.
