Countdown: Renner Says Hawkeye is “Beautifully Intimate”
In a roundtable attended by Therese Lacson, the Entertainment Editor at Comics Beat, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner said that the new Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney+, the first two episodes of which will be made available for streaming beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, November 24th, 2021, was “beautifully intimate,” even as it deals with the consequences of the Blip (including Clint Barton’s time as Ronin)!
Beautifully Intimate Hawkeye
Lacson was present at the Hawkeye roundtable, which included not just Renner, but also actors Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, and Tony Dalton, director Rhys Thomas, and Marvel Studios Head Boss in Charge Kevin Feige.
“There’s a lotta weight that’s carried,” said Renner about the series. “There might be a seeming veneer of grumpiness in this resting face in the show.”
It seems that one of the themes of the show will deal with Barton’s survival guilt, having both survived when his family was dusted during the Blip and then survived his close friend, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
The World’s Greatest Archer
Steinfeld underscored that the relationship between Barton and newcomer Kate Bishop will be an important part of the show, as well.
“It was very fun figuring it out as we were going,” said Steinfeld. “The evolution of this dynamic in this relationship… there’s a really true friendship there and an understanding.”
And Feige revealed that Steinfeld did not audition for the role.
“We were very, very lucky that Hailee was open to this because we very much believed that she was sort of the prototype for the character,” said Feige. “And as occasionally happens, the dream version of the character gets to do it.”
Hawkeye Arrives Tomorrow
The first two episodes of the “beautifully intimate” Hawkeye will arrive for streaming on Disney+ tomorrow, on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021.
