REVIEW: Death of Doctor Strange: White Fox #1
In The Death of Doctor Strange: White Fox #1 by Alyssa Wong, Andie Tong, Luciano Vecchio, Arif Prianto, and Travis Lanham, with a main cover by Rico, we see a story that features Kumiho, or “mystical shape-shifting fox spirits.” Intrigued, Marvel Blog True Believers? Well, rest assured that this issue about the White Fox delivers on the potential of this interesting foundation!

As we are informed by the recap page, White Fox is also known as Ami Han, and she’s descended from the Kumiho. She’s a member of Tiger Division, a team that is part of the Agents of Atlas. This team also includes “Auntie Ante,” a gambler sorceress who immediately became one of my new favorite characters thanks to her incredible name and her awesome-looking powers.

Just like all the other superheroes on Earth-616, the Agents of Atlas are dealing with loads of problems in the wake of Doctor Strange’s death, like the streets of Seoul being filled with an extra-dimensional threat.

In this issue, we also get to see more of Pearl Pangan, A.K.A. Wave. This character previously appeared in “Personal Heroes,” a story written by Wong that appeared in the anthology Marvel’s Voices: Identity #1, and it’s nice to see her return once again!

Plus, the leader of the Agents of Atlas is Jimmy Woo. Not only did he also get a story in Marvel’s Voices: Identity #1, but we all want more Woo thanks to Randall Park’s show-stopping appearance in the role on WandaVision. Frankly, this issue demonstrates that he could be leading a whole superhero team, so maybe we’ll eventually get to see Agents of Atlas on Disney+! Between White Fox, Auntie Ante, and Wave, there are plenty of heroes we’d love to see under Woo’s command on-screen.
The Last Kumiho
In addition to telling an interesting story about a hero who I was not very familiar with (but who I immediately want to learn more about), this issue featured some incredible art and a very good (but very sad) ending. Did you get a chance to read The Death of Doctor Strange: White Fox #1, Marvel Blog True Believers? What did you think of it?
