Hawkeye Character Posters Tease Parental Villainy
In a Tweet sent on Monday, December 13th, 2021, the official Marvel Entertainment Twitter account released two new character posters for Hawkeye, the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney+! With just two episodes left in the first season of the incredible new series, we’ve got just one question, Marvel Blog True Believers: could these be our bad guys? Are we looking at the face of parental villainy?

What’s the Deal with
The posters feature two characters who we’ve grown more and more accustomed to over the course of the four episodes of Hawkeye we’ve seen so far: first up is Eleanor Bishop, Kate’s mom. Eleanor was with her daughter and husband at home during the Battle of New York (as seen in 2012’s The Avengers). However, Kate’s father apparently died during the attack. Did this drive Eleanor to be more overprotective than she should be, or did it motivate her towards attempted to exert control using more… sinister methods?
Meanwhile, it seems all but inarguably that Jack Duquesne is actually Jacques Duquesne, a character who is also known as the Swordsman.
Not only does he seem to have the sword fighting skills to justify this presumption (as seen in the second episode), but he has a mustache straight out of the panels of Hawkeye (2012) #2 – read the retro review of that issue right here.
If Jack is really the Swordsman, one major question remains: does Eleanor know the truth of his identity? And if so, what’s she doing in league with a supervillain? Is she engaging in some villainy herself? These next two episodes are going to be mighty exciting, Marvel Blog True Believers!
