Marvel Comics Variants Celebrate MCU Phase 2
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2021, a brand-new series of Marvel Comics variant covers was unveiled… and these will celebrate Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in style!
Phase 2 Variants
As the most devoted of Marvel Blog True Believers will already be well aware, the ongoing saga of the MCU has been split into Phases. The first Phase took place from Iron Man (2009) through The Avengers (2012), with the second phase beginning with Iron Man 3 (2013).

That movie is spotlighted in a variant by Alexander Lozano that spotlights the many Iron Man armors in that threequel. This will be available as a variant for Iron Man #18.

Next up is Thor: The Dark World, which will be featured on a variant by Ryan Stegman that will be featured on Thor #23.

The second Captain America movie, The Winter Soldier, will be honored with a variant cover by Declan Shalvey on Captain Carter #1.

The next Phase 2 movie is Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 1, which will appear on a variant cover for Avengers Forever #4 by Skan.

This was followed by the second Avengers movie (and the one that formally introduced the Soul of the MCU, Wanda Maximoff), Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will get a variant by Valerio Schiti on Captain America/Iron Man #5. This cover features the whole cast of characters (and the Mind Stone).

And finally, the biggest little movie of them all, Ant-Man, gets a variant by Marvelous artist David Nakayama for Avengers #54. This cover features a shrunken version of Ant-Man battling against Yellowjacket.
