RUMOR: Will ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Feature A Third Doctor Strange Variant?
The next film on the MCU slate is quickly becoming one of its most anticipated, as recent rumors have recently surfaced as to the potential that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could feature a third Doctor Strange variant.
With the incredible success that was Spider-Man: No Way Home came the fantastic post-credits trailer for the long-awaited sequel film to 2016’s Doctor Strange.
Featuring a Multiversal adventure that was set in motion by the spell botched by the former sorcerer supreme that would’ve allowed Peter Parker to retain his secret identity. The unintended consequences are now having a rippling effect throughout the MCU.
With the effects of that spell clearly being seen in the latest Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer as fans got their first look at the live-action adaptation of Strange Supreme, the variant of Doctor Strange fans met in Marvel Disney+ series, What If…?
It seems as though that won’t be the only Doctor Strange variant that appears within the latest MCU film, at least if recent merchandise reveals are proven correct.
In a tweet posted by @DrStrangeUpdate, fans got their first look at Defender Strange, which sports a look clearly inspired by the character’s Defenders costume from the comics.

The black and red design gives a unique take on the character’s classic blue, with the long ponytail and lack of the signature Cloak of Levitation all adding interesting things about the brand new reveal.
This post isn’t the only place fans have come into contact with this recently revealed Doctor Strange variant, however, with a better look at the previously announced Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Marvel Legends line carrying the Defender Strange incarnation.
Will Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness feature a third Doctor Strange variant? It seems as though all signs point to that being the case.
The release of the film will sort out who from these variants are working alongside the MCU Doctor Strange to balance the crippling multiverse, and who may be responsible for its demise.
