X-Men’s Jessica Chastain on a Possible MCU Appearance
In an interview with comicbook.com, the X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Jessica Chastain said that she would be willing to appear in a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe… but she has something very specific in mind, Marvel Blog True Believers: she wants to play a one-and-done villain!
The Marvelous Return of Chastain
Chastain originally played the role of Vuk, the leader of an alien race known as the D’bari (who themselves shared a lot of characteristics with the Skrulls, an alien race that is becoming increasingly familiar to fans of the MCU).
When asked by comicbook.com whether or not she would be willing to play another Marvel role, Chastain said that she would… but she had some caveats to take into consideration.
“I think that I would be more interested in playing a villain than a comic book hero, because I think villains have more fun, honestly,” said Chastain. In addition to elaborating by saying she would like to play a one-and-done role, she also said that she would prefer to play an established villain, rather than a new role.
Well, if you’re guessing that I’ll have a fancast, you’re right about that, Marvel Blog True Believers! In my opinion, Chastain would be perfect for the role of Madame Masque. This supervillain serves as an antagonist to Kate Bishop during her tenure in Southern California (as seen in Hawkeye (2012) #18 by Matt Fraction, Annie Wu, Matt Hollingsworth, and Chris Eliopoulos)… and that sounds like a great premise for a second season of Hawkeye to me, Marvel Blog True Believers!
