What (+ When & Why) Did Peter Do?
In a Tweet sent by the official Spider-Man Twitter account on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, an official promo image for what can be assumed to be a new story arc for Amazing Spider-Man was revealed.

The promotion image consists of five vertically arranged panels. In the first, we see a distant smoking crater. As we pull closer, we see that the figure is Peter Parker, wearing a tattered and damaged version of the Spider-Man outfit. He appears to be holding some sort of remote control, and looks devastated… and then he throws back his head and screams as the logo and release date (April 2022) is revealed.

This would appear to be a teaser for the next arc of Amazing Spider-Man, the long-running main Spidey title. This isn’t the first information we’ve heard about what’s in store for everyone’s favorite web-slinger (Parker edition) in April 2022. Earlier this week, it was revealed that John Romita, Jr. would be returning to the Amazing Spider-Man title the same month.
And in an article posted to the official Marvel website on Thursday, January 13th, 2022, it was revealed that the new creative team will feature the writing of Zeb Wells.

What does this mean for the currently unfolding story in the panels of Amazing Spider-Man, featuring Ben Reilly stepping into the role of Spider-Man (with some help from the creepy Beyond Corporation)? This teaser implies that Parker, who is currently comatose after a particularly brutal battle, will be waking up and reclaiming the mantle of Spider-Man soon.

However, while the teaser for the new storyline asks “What Did Peter Do,” implying he is responsible for the smoking crater, but it doesn’t ask any of the other important question. How Did Peter Do? When Did Peter Do? And perhaps most importantly of all, WHY Did Peter Do?
