Multiple Marvel Comics Receive GLAAD Nominations
Yesterday, on Wednesday, January 19th, 2022, the nominees for the 33rd Annual GLAAD Awards were announced… and multiple Marvel Comics titles have been nominated for awards!
33rd Annual GLAAD Awards
There were multiple Marvel Comics titles that were nominated for GLAAD Awards, across multiple categories! And it will come as no surprise that both books will be familiar to the most devoted of Marvel Blog True Believers, thanks to the fact that I extensively covered both titles over the course of 2021.
First up is Star Wars: Doctor Aphra by Alyssa Wong, Minkyu Jung, Ray-Anthony Height, Federico Sabbatini, Jan Olazaba, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Joe Caramagna, which is nominated for the GLAAD Award for Outstanding Comic Book. As you’ll no doubt recall, this series stars some of the best characters in the entire Star Wars galaxy, including the eponymous rogue archeologist and bounty hunter lover interest Sana Starros.
This wouldn’t be the first time Aphra was awarded a GLAAD Award: in 2020, Doctor Aphra received the Award for Outstanding Comic Book from the organization.
And the second Marvel Comics title to be nominated in 2022 is one of Marvel Blog’s Top 12 Marvel Comics of 2021, Marvel’s Voices: Pride.
delighted by the news of a @glaad award nomination for the @MARVEL VOICES: #PRIDE anthology!

This title is nominated in the category of Outstanding Original Graphic Novel/Anthology, and as you may recall from our review of the title, this comic anthology is fully deserving of the nomination.
Let’s Go LGBTQ+ Marvel Comics!
Marvel Blog would like to issue our sincere congratulations to everyone who was nominated for a GLAAD Award… but we have to admit that we’re rooting especially hard for the two Marvel Comics titles!
