‘Hawkeye’ Deleted Scene Explores Clint Barton’s Tragic Past
One of Marvel’s most grounded stories has gotten much darker with the release of new footage. A Hawkeye deleted scene explores Clint Barton’s tragic past.
An original six Avenger and one of the pillars of the team, Clint Barton has been present in the MCU since its earliest days.

One of the most skilled, and most interesting characters the studio has developed, Barton has always stood out for seemingly being a walking contradiction; a superhero with no powers, and a secret agent with nothing more than a bow and arrow.
A character so methodical and matter of fact in his approach to helping the world, that he has difficulty even seeing his impact on it; Jeremy Renner and the MCU has brought Clint Barton to life in ways rarely seen in modern franchise film.

It was the character’s centrally focused Disney+ series that aided that development, however, and it appears more footage is delving that much deeper.
A Hawkeye deleted scene explores Clint Barton’s tragic past, as we get our first look into the circumstances that made Hawkeye.

The scenes tell a brutal tale of Barton’s homeless childhood alongside his single mother; who maybe wasn’t the greatest influence on him.
It delves into their scams- pickpocketing from unsuspecting patrons at a carnival being the first display- but also their relationship as one defined by a very clear love for one another.

At the end of the scene, when caught in a moment that could see Barton kill a man to set his mother free, he opts to alert the authorities, and do the right thing in the end.

The beauty of the scene is how it will work to eventually mirror the same decision placed at the feet of Kate Bishop; who also opted to do the right thing, despite her love for her other.
Although the scene may have interfered with the pacing of the series, it is vital for truly understanding the circumstances that made Clint who he is, and why he values the small life he’s built with his family so much.
