Charlie Cox Talks About His Future Playing Daredevil in the MCU
In what has been one of the most ambitious eras for Marvel Studios, its lauded Phase Four has stood out for its commitment to reimagining the MCU as we understand it.
With the events of the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home exploring the delicate and continually unraveling multiverse of the MCU, Tom Hollands Spider-Man has faced villains and alternate reality versions of the character over 20 years of the character’s history on the big screen.
With Mysterio’s unmasking of Spider-Man to the general public, the character begins to get pursued by the government, tow which the character needed to find a really good lawyer.
This led to one of the best debuts of Marvel’s Phase Four, as Charlie Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdoch from his own Netflix series, Daredevil.
A character that has been one of the most beloved in the history of Marvel comics, Daredevil was a series that still stands as one of the MCU’s best.
With his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home solidifying the character’s place in the MCU, many fans were curious as to just what the appearance meant for the character’s future; and they aren’t the only ones.
In an interview with Australian publication Supanova, Charlie Cox talks about his future playing Daredevil in the MCU, as the actor was outspoken about his desire to return as the character.
Cox stated, “I don’t want to sound greedy, but I hope I get to do loads more. I hope i get to be involved way, way more for many years. I hope it never ends. I hope it gets to the point where people are like, ‘You are too old to be laying this part.”
“I don’t know what their plans are, but yes, my hope is that i get to do as much as I’m allowed to do, and to be involved.” Cox continued, “And it’d be really fun, the one thing that being in the MCU allows that we couldn’t really do with the Netflix stuff is that I can now interact with other MCU characters.”
Cox concluded, “So, that would be really cool. Crossovers are the thing I would like to do next. U don’t know what that looks like and I don’t know what they’re planning and all that kind of stuff. But there are some really interesting stories there that id love for the character to explore.”
Cox is completely right, Daredevil is a part of some of Marvel’s most iconic and memorable storylines, and we can only hope that he will get his chance to reprise this role for as long as he wants.
