Russell Crowe Reportedly Set to Join ‘Kraven The Hunter’
The enigmatic continuation of Sony’s developing Spider-Man universe may have just added a veteran actor, as Russell Crowe is reportedly set to join Kraven The Hunter.
It is a film production that has been kept under wraps as Sony has worked diligently to expand upon their ever-evolving universe of Spider-Man characters.
Starting With Venom– and the subsequent Venom: Let There be Carnage– and following up with the highly anticipated and ever delayed Morbius, Sony has developed films around the vast rogue’s gallery of Spider-MAn.
What has been rumored for some time is the upcoming development of yet another entry into that expanding franchise of films, Kraven The Hunter.
Set to star former MCU actor Aaron Taylor Johnson in the title role, Karven The Hunter will likely follow the classic Spider-Man villain of the same name.
With very little released about the upcoming film, it appears as though it will tell the origin story of Kraven; and what preceded his unending pursuit of the wall-crawling, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
It appears as though the film’s cast may have added another name that brings with them a wealth of experience, as Russell Crowe is reportedly set to join Kraven The Hunter in an undisclosed role.
The news comes by way of ComicBook.com, but what makes this development all the more interesting is that Crowe is already slated to make his MCU debut at some point in Marvel’s Phase Four slate of films.
With reports indicating that Crowe will play the character of Zeus in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, the casting begins to put into question just how involved Sony and Marvel will be moving forward.
With Marvel Studios and the MCU breathing new life into the character six years ago with his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, and Spider-Man: No Way Home bringing Sony their best Spider-Man film to date, the two studios may be slowly drifting apart.
Only time will tell what fans can expect from Kraven- or Morbius for that matter- but one can only hope that the continually building Spider-Man universe at Sony will do justice to the character in the way few outside of Marvel has.
