Marvel Introduces The Multiversal Anthony Stark Who Became…Ant-Man?
Perhaps one of the coolest additions to the lore of two of Marvel’s most beloved characters, fans have now been introduced to the multiversal Anthony Stark who became…Ant-Man?
One of the greatest aspects of the world crafted within comic books is the concept known as the mutliverse; the alternate reality plane that exists completely apart from many universes we know well.
The multiverse has given fans some of the coolest reimaginings of some icon and beloved Marvel characters and has even stretched unto the far reaches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
First explored in Loki, and WandaVision, and actualized during What If…? the multiverse has already created some iconic alternate reality characters in Captain Carter, Sylvie, and Supreme Strange; with the comic book realities of the Marvel Universe delivering many of their own reimaginings.
One of the coolest debuts of Marvel recently has been the debut of the multiversal Anthony Stark who- equipped with all of the genius of the character- uses said genius to actually become the Ant-Man of his Marvel Universe.
First appearing in Avengers Forever #1, Anthony Stark has been introduced as a character that inhabits many of the qualities that we have come to know Tony Stark for; with his prominent struggle being the character’s difficulty with alcohol addiction.
The beauty of the character is his existence leaves him equipped with Tony Starks greatest strength- his unrivaled intellect- yet his greatest weakness of overindulgence.
The Avengers Forever storyline was crafted by the brilliant minds of Jason Aaron, Aaron Luder, Cam Smith, Jason Keith, Triona Farrell, and Cory Petit, and tells the story of the Marvel universe of Earth- 818; a planet in chaos.
Gigantic Iron suits known as War Machines patrol what is known as The Wasteland; massive entities brought to existence by Stark himself.
Anthony Stark uses his own creation- Stark Particles, which essentially maintain the same function as Pym particles- to shrink in size and hide from the threat of the War Machines; while the character is established as both a brilliant invention and part-time thief.
The post-apocalyptic world of Earth-818 and the character of Anthony Stark are poised to be some of the coolest multiversal adventures Marvel has offered in some time.
We cannot wait to see the team continue to establish, and watch where Aarons and company take the character of Ant-Man- well, this universe Ant-Man- in the subsequent issues!
