Disney+ Reportedly Restoring Censored Scenes in ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’
After what was a massive source of debate in regard to Disney’s alteration of a certain MCU series, it appears as though Disney+ is reportedly restoring Censored scenes in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Some controversy arose recently as some eagle-eyed Marvel fans observed certain scenes in Falcon and Winter Soldier being altered to be less violent or limit the amount of blood.
It was something that generally came out of nowhere, and included some very strange alterations to the series that debuted last year.
With the debut of the former Nefltix collaborated Marvel series on Disney+, the Disney exclusive streaming service was forced to increase its parental controls, which angered various parental councils who stood against Disney’s embrace of more mature content despite the increased parental control.
With many upset about the changes that Disney had apparently made to the MCU series, it turns out it may have been unintentional, as Disney+ is reportedly restoring censored scenes in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Entertainment Weekly has recently investigated the issue, and it turns out that it was a mistake made but eh company with the report stating, “This alternate cut of Falcon and the Winter Soldier was accidentally uploaded in an attempt to correct a credit, a source tells EW.”
The report continued by stating, “We’re told Disney hopes to have the issue remedied as soon as possible.”
It is interesting to consider that this was all actually a mistake, but it is also not surprising; it does make sense that the studio would produce a version of the series that would better adhere to certain rating guidelines, in the event that it received a TV-MA rating they hadn’t anticipated.
With Disney’s strict adherence to avoiding something more than a TV-14 rating, it would make sense that nearly every series has alternate versions with certain alterations as a safeguard.
