F. Murray Abraham Talks How Much He Loved Playing Khonshu in ‘Moon Knight’
With the series wrapping in an action-packed finale, one of its stars spoke about his joy in portraying the iconic character, as F. Murray Abraham talks about how much he loved playing Khonshu in Moon Knight.
What we would easily deem as Marvel’s greatest series yet has officially reached its season conclusion, as Moon Knight has ended after just six episodes.
Exploring what are some of the most mature themes that the MCU has ever attempted to delve into, Moon Knight tackles topics like child abuse and mental illness in its study of the character of Marc Spector.
Played brilliantly by Oscar Isaac, the series saw his struggle with dissociative identity disorder made worse by his bonding with a vengeful Egyptian deity who sought to enact revenge against those who seek harm against the innocent.
Although a seemingly noble pursuit, That deity is firmly established in the series’ early stages as a manipulative entity seeking to truly use Spector with no regard for him or his affliction.
Could the character be all bad though? The man behind the skull doesn’t seem to think so, as F. Murray Abraham recently spoke about how much he loved playing Khonshu in Moon Knight, and his adoration for the character.
In an interview reported by ComicBook.com, Abraham stated, “Oh, Khonshu’s a treat. He’s fun. That’s really one of the things that people forget about, in the work we do, is we talk about how hard this is and what we have to accomplish, but it’s also fun.”
The veteran actor continued, “That’s what people seem to forget, and that’s another thing about Khonshu- he’s really fun. He’s dangerous. Also, it’s touching sometimes because he’s really willing to sacrifice himself.”
That’s something that you and I didn’t talk about,” Abraham noted, “but the fact is that that’s very unselfish of him. He really cares.”
The former Academy Award winner concluded by stating, “I love that about him. It’s honorable. I don’t want to make it more than it is, but I’m telling you I feel that strongly about him. I happen to live the character very much.”
It is fascinating to hear how fond Abraham has gotten of the character, and we can only hope that he- and the entire Moon Knight cast- will return for the second season of the spectacular series.
