‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ has 2nd Lowest CinemaScore of all MCU films
Although it is clearly dominating the box office during its opening weekend, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness now has the 2nd lowest CinemaScore of all MCU films.
There were few films in the history of the vast and immensely popular Marvel Cinematic Universe that could share the level of anticipated, and expectation, of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
A film that was billed as the ultimate conclusion to the Multiversal narrative that has been present throughout much of the MCU’s lauded Phase Four.
Setting Marvel’s resident sorcerer against the boundless unknown of the alternate realities, Sam Raimi was set to orchestrate what should be the most mind-bending film that Marvel has ever put on the big screen.
The biggest question is; did it succeed in connecting with audiences? Well, it seems that it may not have done as well as others.
In a recent report from ComicBook.com, it appears as though Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has the 2nd lowest CinemaScore of all MCU films.

A post from CinemaScor’s official Twitter stated that “We were in theaters to poll @DrStrange in the Multiverse of Madness tonight and audiences gave it a B+. Will you be catching this one?”
ComicBook.com goes on to note that the only two MCU films that have achieved a similar CinemaScore rating were the first Thor film which also received a B+, and Eternals which received a B.
Although it inst a perfect process, when it comes to the intentions and reliability of the CinemaScore rating, the report states, “CinemaScore surveys those in attendance at theaters across North America, and have people out a six-question survey.”
It continued by stating, “Based on those questions, the pollster then tabulates a score and converts it into the promoted letter grade.”
We recently reviewed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and really enjoyed it, while recognizing it isn’t a perfect film by any stretch; which leads us to the conclusion that this score is probably fairly accurate to a lot of viewers’ experiences.
