‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Merch Hints at New MCU Villain
With the long-awaited sequel finally coming to fruition, fans are clamoring for any and all updates surrounding its current production that has concluded in recent months; with some recently leaked Black Panther: Wakanda Forever merch hinting at a brand new MCU villain.
It is not just among the most anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universes entries since its announcement, but also among the most enigmatic of them, as fans have been anxiously awaiting the sequel to 2019’s massive success, Black Panther.
A film that, to this day, still holds the distinction as the only MCU film to be nominated for an Academy Award in the esteemed category of Best Picture, Ryan Coogler’s visionary masterpiece is a staple of teh Marvel Universe and a testament to the potential of these films.
Telling the beautifully unique story of T’Challa, the King of Wakanda, and the history of his people, Black Panther continued the exploration of the character that first began in 2016’s seminole entry, Captain America: Civil War.
It was a character, and a growing new world, that immensely intrigued viewers, and provided an opportunity for the MCU to focus on exploring subject matter much more important that superheroes and killer robots; with the American history of the marginalization of colored people takin center stage in the film conflict.
With the upcoming sequel film likely set to continue that exploration, fans may have finally gotten some news as to the main antagonist of this film, as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Merch hints at the new origin of the brand new MCU villain.
Namor has long been rumored to be the villain of the sequel film, with his home of Atlantis seeking out war agains tthe surface world of Wakanda; this new merch hints at the Aztec origin of this adaption of the classic underwater civilization.
First reported by The Direct, the hoodie and hat feature Wakandan text that read, “Wakanda Forever, with the hat featuring a depiction of the Aztec deity of Tepeyollotli- a Jaguar that is the Aztecan god of darkened gaves, earthquakes, echoes, and Jaguars.
The merchandise points to the altered Aztecan origin of Namor, and will add an interesting dynamic to the iconic Marvel character who is certainly likely to have a bigger role in the MCU moving forward.
