Marvel Announces Brand New Yoda Series
The collaboration between two of the most important companies in the current world of pop culture has led to some of the most interesting and intriguing projects; something that continues now, as Marvel announces a brand new Yoda series.
It is easily one of the longest-running, and most underrated, collaborations in the history of the industry, as Marvel has been adding to the Star Wars mythos since the very dawn of these galaxies far far away.
Coinciding with the very debut of the original Star Wars film in 1977, Marvel released a six-issue retelling of the original film, followed by a 107-issue Star Wars run that spanned through the entire 1980s until 1986.
After Lucasfilm took the Star Wars title elsewhere throughout the 1990s and 2000s, it was the acquisition of the two companies by the Walt Disney Company that reunited the storytelling juggernauts.
2015 the collaboration between Marvel and Lucasfilm returned, with the Star Wars license being exclusively granted to the comic book publisher following the acquisition of Marvel in 2009 and Lucasfilm in 2012.
The return of that creative partnership has opened the door to an entirely new generation of storytellers for this medium that has been so integral to the Star Wars universe from the very beginning; allowing readers to interact with some of their favorite characters as they are explored in the boundless universe.
Characters like Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra have become staples of the comic book industry with their various runs exploring the intriguing and visually stunning histories of these entities in comic book form, and now, a new but beloved- hero is joining this comic book pantheon.
at Saturday’s Star Wars Celebration, Marvel announced a brand new Yoda series; with the character getting his own comic book miniseries that will first release this October.
The series will be titled, Star Wars: Yoda, and will reportedly, “take place during Yoda’s self-imposed exile on Dagobah as he reflects on his past adventures.”
Writers and artists such as Cavan Scott, Nico Leon, Jody Houser, Marc Guggenheim, Luke Ross, and Alessandro Miracolo will be the various creative forces that will take part in bringing this new and exciting series to life.
