Marvel Announces Disney+ Release Date for ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’
A film that was always expected to have a rather short theatrical window, Marvel has finally announced the Disney+ release date for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
What has long been billed as one of the most important films of the Marvel Cinematic Universes Phase Four slate, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one of the most anticipated Marvel projects to date.
Picking up where the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home left off, the film was set to bookend the multiversal narrative that first began in Loki, and carried a throughline within much of the MCU in this current phase.
The film ended up perfectly encapsulating all of the creativity and ambition that has been par for the course for Marvel Phase Four projects, with the Sam Raimi-helmed epic being one of the most unique Marvel projects to date.
With the film dominating the box office in its first two weeks, there seemed to always be the understanding that the film would have a rather limited theatrical schedule, an assumption that has proven correct as Marvel has announced the Disney+ release date for Doctor Strange 2.
In an announcement by the official Marvel Studios Twitter account, fans were made aware that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would release on the Disney exclusive streaming platform on June 22.

It is a development that would ensure that the Doctor Strange sequel would have a theatrical run that lasted around two months, which is in line with the originally reported 45-day window.
The film has already proven to be one of the biggest financial successes of 2022, even if it trailed off in recent weeks, and it should have a similar effect to the MCU’s earlier release, Eternals, which gained a second life when it was released on the streaming platform.
It is a model that has worked for Marvel Studios in recent history, with the feature films getting a boost in popularity from theatrical releases, and for those who have the streaming platform and hadn’t seen it in theaters.
