They are among the most important contributors to the Marvel Universe that have ever directed a feature film for their studios, and their impact can still be felt today; with Phase Four nearing its conclusion, the Russo Brothers talk about returning to Marvel and Secret Wars.

It occurred with Taika Waititi, who revitalized a Thor that was quickly fading into the backdrop of Marvel heroes, to eventually become one of the MCU’s most beloved heroes, and James Gunn, who was in charge of defining much of the cosmic realm of the Marvel Universe that we know today.
Yet, with their impact, they most likely would be unable to supersede the impact and reinvention that took place when the Russo Brothers took the helm of the many Marvel projects they developed for the ever-growing MCU.

Films like Captain America: The Winter Soldier completely shifted the tone of Marvels films, and allowed audiences to take in a narrative that completely shifted what was possible out of an MCU film; with that work carrying over to what they were able to achieve in their massive two conclusive Avengers films.
The final two installments of the Infinity Saga brought the massive interconnection film event to a close in a way that is still among the most incredible and most ambitious projects ever brought to the big screen, and are among the most successful films ever developed.

Promoting their current film with Marvel alumn Chris Evans titled The Gray Man, The Russo Brothers talked about returning to Marvel and Secret Wars; discussing possibly coming back to direct the massive film that would rival the incredible two Avengers films they directed.
The interview was interesting because it displayed the directing duo in a state of contemplation, as opposed to them simply assessing a possibility; if we had to guess, we’d say this interaction has actually taken place behind closed doors.

As the Russo brothers state in the interview, it would be a massive undertaking for the directing team, and with the massive heights reached in their seminal classic Avengers: Endgame, why return if not to attempt to outdo the incredible achievement that film was? But is that even possible?
