Ironheart Series Set to Arrive in Phase 5 After Wakanda Forever Debut!
The MCU’s Phase 4 will finally come to a close with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever! Ironheart Riri Williams has already been spotted in the trailer, and now Marvel has announced that the Ironheart series will arrive in Phase 5!
The trailer for Wakanda Forever was absolutely breathtaking. In an Ode to the remarkable Chadwick Boseman and his Black Panther, we were given our first look at the aftermath of T’Challa’s death and just a snippet of the devastating ramifications that Wakanda and T’challa’s allies must deal with.

While the trailer divulged a plethora of phenomenal elements that will appear in the film, such as the debut and first look of Marvel anti-hero Namor and his Atlanteans. The trailer also gave us our first look at Riri Williams in what will be her live-action debut in the MCU!
Played by actress Dominique Thorne, we see a shot of Riri Williams giving a fist bump to Shuri, the two seem to be friends as they greet each other with a smile. Later in the trailer, we see a heart being pounded out of metal as Riri hammers away at equipment in what we can assume is her building the Ironheart armor!

Riri Williams first debuted in Invincible Iron Man Volume 3 #7 (2016). A super genius of incredible intellect, Riri was an introvert whose brilliance resulted in her shying away from others. Finding Iron Man’s Model 41 armor, Riri reverse engineered the suit and developed a working prototype that was able to mimic Iron Man’s capabilities.
After the events of Civil War II, Iron Man would fall into a coma after a tumultuous battle with Captain Marvel. It was during this time that Riri Williams created the refined ‘Iron Heart’ armor, with a little bit of guidance from an A.I. with Tony’s personality. Formulating the alias ‘Iron Heart’, Riri’s first foray into crime-fighting began.

What role Riri Williams will play in Wakanda Forever is unknown. Though merchandise with Williams in what will be her prototype armor has been seen. What we can surmise at this point, is that she will provide a vital ally role to Shuri who may require her help in whatever is coming to Wakanda!
Even more exciting is that the Ironheart series will occur in Phase 5 with a release window of fall 2023! How will her adventures in Wakanda impact what happens in the show? We cannot wait to see her series and how she will carry the torch of Tony Stark’s legacy.
