Chukwudi Iwuji Breaks Silence on Playing MCU’s High Evolutionary
It was a casting choice that has long been rumored, but hadn’t been confirmed until he arrived at San Diego Comic-Con in full regalia; now, he’s talking about his upcoming character, as Chukwudi Iwuji breaks silence on playing MCU’s High Evolutionary.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has long been one of the most exciting projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it was poised to both introduce some brand new faces to the franchise, and close the book on some of its most beloved characters.
Adam Warlock, and the return of the team’s mainstays, had come to be the most interesting developments of the film, but it remains the highly-anticipated final installment of the Jame Gunn-helmed series that is set to say goodbye to the original incarnation of the team as we know it.
One of the film’s most intriguing aspects, and one that had remained but a rumor to this point, was who the villain of the film would be; with many holding theories that were unknowable until any kind of casting announcement, or trailer, was released to the public.
We know now who that villain is, as he arrived in costume to greet the droves of Marvel fans at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and with his appearance now confirmed, Chukwudi Iwuji has broken his silence on playing the MCU’s High Evolutionary.
Talking to Collider, Iwuji described his character as a “narcissistic, sociopathic, but very charming,” villain; going on to state that, “there’s something very Shakespearean about him, there’s something very emotionally dark about him, and he’s a lot of fun on top of all that.”
Speaking on the character’s unique look, Iwuji added, “The day I put on that costume because he looks very different from how he is in the comics, but the costume just worked. There’s something about putting it on,” concluding that, “a big part of my performance was that costume.”
High Evoltionary remains one of Marvels most interesting villains, and he will certainly add a very unique element to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise; with the menacing entity playing a huge part in the backstory to Rocket Racoon.
