MarvelBlog REVIEW: Avengers Forever #4
We continue our deep dive into what was one of the coolest Multiversal Avengers titles introduced, as we give you our review of Avengers Forever #4.
we have been abundantly outspoken about how much we have enjoyed the newest series from one of the comic book industry’s best writers, as this brand new multiversal Marvel universe has come to life in an exceptionally vibrant and unique way.
Jason Aaron has long been one of our favorite talents that have ever graced the medium, as he has consistently brought forth creativity that hinges on his ability to dissect characters in intriguing and explorative ways; and all of that shows up in this newest series.
What sets Avengers Forever #4 apart is the switch in location, and how the focus shifts from this ragtag group of avengers defending the Wasteland from the Black Skull to the appearance of three granddaughters of Thor, and an unknown quest laid before them.
What is so intriguing about how this issue pushed forward the narrative, is the overwhelming feeling that, although this fourth installment feels rather conclusive, there is so much more to come for these characters and a looming threat that will only become greater as the run continues.
The goddesses of Thunder are present and aid the team of Avengers that we’ve come to know, with the only real downside of their appearance being the haste in which this great threat of the Black Skulls is defeated.
Although it does feel as if something more threatening and dangerous is on the horizon, it didn’t feel as though both Aaron and artist James Towe did enough to truly give a satisfying conclusion to this grand face-off between these Avengers and their symbiotic enemies.
Anthony Stark has been the star of these series, and with the team splitting up by the final page, there is hope that they will be shown alongside this fantastic new Avengers team as they seek out where they can aid in the fight to protect the multiverse.
The issue ends by introducing a character who has become synonymous with the multiverse in recent years, and the understanding that things are just getting started with this brand new Jason Aaron story.
