Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Marvel Legends Wave 1 Available for Pre-Order!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was certainly the winner of San Diego Comic-Con after the first spectacular trailer was released. Hasbro has now unveiled their wave 1 Wakanda Forever Marvel Legends!
The first wave of the Wakanda Forever Marvel Legends will feature 7 figures: Okoye, Shuri, Namor, Agent Everett Ross, Hatut Zeraze, Nakia, and Classic Black Panther. Each of the figures will contain one build-a-figure piece, the build-a-figure for the first wave is Attuma!
From what audiences have been able to see in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer, the inhabitants of Wakanda seem to be going through an incredibly tumultuous period, as their King T’challa has seemingly passed away. Having the toughest time is easily Ramonda and Shuri, who have now lost both their father and brother.
The other element of the story looks to be a potential war that is brewing between Wakanda and the people of Atlantis. The trailer contained our first look at the Atlantean king and massively important Marvel character Namor! Namor’s garb was definitely heavily inspired by ancient Aztec cultures and we cannot wait to see more of the people of Atlantis.
Namor is among the figures featured in wave 1 of the Wakanda Forever Marvel Legends. Taking much of his appearance from the Wakanda Forever film, Namor certainly is a redirection from the classic comic rendition of Namor and we absolutely love it!
Adorned with ancient Aztec and Mayan clothing, designs, piercings, and jewelry, Namor seems like he is going to be a fresh take on the Namor of old. The figure looks marvelous with great articulation and great detail regarding likeness to the actor. Namor also comes with a spear to combat his foes.
A returning character from the first film, Nakia is a member of the War Dogs, a Wakandan secret intelligence agency akin to the United States CIA. The primary love interest of T’challa, Nakia was one of T’Challa’s closest confidants and allies, seeking to place him back on the throne after he lost to Killmonger.
Nakia’s armor for this next film looks vastly different than her previous attire. Her armor is various shades of blue and green, and the figure does a superb job of increasing the vibrancy of the armor with etchings scattered across the figure. The head sculpt looks incredibly similar to actress Lupita Nyong’o who plays the character.
Throughout Black Panther’s film tenure, Okoye has been one of his closes and fiercest allies. Head of the Dora Milaje and General within the Wakandan forces, Okoye fought alongside Black Panther in both the original film and Avengers: Infinity War. What role she will play in the upcoming war and sequel is a mystery.
The figure is a mirror image of Okoye’s likeness in the upcoming film. The head sculpt is a perfect replica of Danai Gurira and the armor that adorns the figure bares an almost identical resemblance to the Dora Milaje armor seen in the film.
Agent Everett Ross made his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, being directly impacted by the machinations of Baron Zemo in his attempt to sow discord between the Avengers. He would return in Black Panther’s first film, helping Panther to deal with Klaue and Eric Killmonger.
The figure bares a great likeness to that of the character’s actor, Emmy award winner Martin Freeman. The figure also comes with a dapper suit and firearm, appearing like a typical CIA agent. The suit plastic has creases and wrinkles giving it the appearance of actual fabric.
The last two figures do not appear in the film and are instead based on comic book iterations. The first is the Hatut Zeraze, the Hatut Zeraze were secret police that worked for Wakanda to rid political threats internally and enemies that threatened the country.
The nature of the Hatut Zeraze was malicious in that they often tortured and exterminated political enemies. This eventually led to their banishment by T’challa. The figure is a spectacular recreation of the comic with the striking white panther-style suit synonymous with the Hatut Zeraze, also equipped with additional weapon accessories.
The final figure in the Wakanda Forever Marvel Legends series is the classic Black Panther Marvel legend. This appearance of the Black Panther looks very similar to the Black Panther suit seen in the Marvel Fanfare comics, especially that of Marvel Fanfare Volume 1 #60.
Wrapped in a more traditional all-black suit and featuring a black cloak, the simplicity of this Black Panther doesn’t deter it from being an amazing figure. The mask sculpt in particular on the head looks fearsome, and the white claws and boots give it a different look from most Black Panther figures.
The final figure in the wave is the build-a-figure Attuma, each figure within the wave will be accompanied by a piece of Attuma, once the entire wave is collected the figure can be built. Attuma is probably the most intricate and detailed of all the figures.
Attuma gives us a clear look at what we can assume Atlanteans will look like in Wakanda Forever. Blue tinted skin and intricately crafted tribal attire fixed throughout, Attuma looks like an incredibly intimidating presence. His headdress appears to be a hammerhead shark skull and he is equipped with a spear.
The figures are currently available for pre-order and are estimated to arrive early next year in February 2023. The Wakanda Forever film will be released on November 11, 2022, and if the trailer is anything by which to gauge, this film looks like it will be an amazing film.
These Wakanda Forever Marvel Legends will be an amazing addition to a person’s collection. Whether a fan wants one specific character or the whole lot, these figures will look great for the adult and play great for the child!
