MCU’s Five Best Movies on Rotten Tomatoes
We’ve already looked at some of the worst-reviewed films that the Marvel Universe has ever developed, so in an effort of fairness, it only makes sense to now take a deep dive into the MCU’s five best movies on Rotten Tomatoes to see who made the cut, who just missed out, and is their status earned?
5- Spider-Man: No Way Home
This is an interesting one, as there will be some people who wonder why the latest MCU Spider-Man adventure is so low, and others who wonder why it’s so high; but there is little doubt to us that it has earned consideration for a place on a list like this.
The film currently sits at 93% on the review aggregate site, and it feels entirely accurate; it may be difficult for Marvel fans to remember that this was the first true blockbuster following the COVID-19 pandemic, and may be- when it is all said and done- underrated for its impact and importance.
4- Thor: Ragnarok
It is truly a feat that a director can have both one of the best MCU entries, and one of the worst, in their two Thor films, but that is exactly what Taika Waititi has achieved in both this and the lesser follow-up, Thor: Love and Thunder
The film currently sits at 93% on the website as well and represents a lot of Waititi’s greatest talents, combined with a freer Chris Hemsworth, and a unique and distinct visual style that truly sets it apart.
3- Iron Man
More so than anything else, Iron Man’s inclusion on this list is a testament to just how incredible that original entry was, as this film birthed the entire starting point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and set the tone for what was to come from the massive studio.
Sitting at a 94% rating, its a function of its place as the first, there will be those who undervalue just how good a film 2008s Iron Man was, telling a fantastic story, sporting tremendous visual effects for the time, and setting the tone for just what the Marvel method of filmmaking would be.
2- Avengers: Endgame
Iron Man may have set the entire MCU in motion, but it was Avengers: Endgame that signified its greatest and most ambitious achievement, in what is the culminating classic of over a decade of world-building.
The film truly tested the limits of a franchise, and took this massive interconnected film universe into one massive cataclysmic clash of titanic proportions; and with its 94% rating, its impact and excellence haven’t been lost on audiences.
1- Black Panther
Is there really a surprise that the only MCU film to be nominated for an Academy Award under the category of Best Picture is the highest-rated Marvel film on Rotten Tomatoes?
Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther was a true feat of filmmaking, and that is perfectly reflected in the film’s 96% rating; it was relevant, emotionally relevant, and incredibly action-packed, as the project birthed an iconic hero for a new generation.
