D23 is This Weekend; What Should Marvel Fans Expect?
It has been one of the biggest days of the year for brands under the Marvel umbrella, and this year is set to be no different, so with D23 this weekend, what should Marvel fans expect?
San Diego Comic-Con was the last major place where Marvel fans were given some of the most exciting announcements for the upcoming years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There was not only the discussion of what to expect out of the rest of Phase Four, and the entirety of a restructured Phase Five, but a small glimpse into what’s coming in Phase Six.
Since that announcement, fans have had this upcoming event circled on the calendar, as it has long been rumored to be the setting for the next batch of massive announcements; and with D23 this weekend, what should Marvel fans expect? Well, let’s start with the schedule.
September 9th
The first day of the three-day panel may not offer fans a lot of news, but it will be the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony in which CEO Bob Chapek will honor the late Chadwick Boseman among other Disney legends.
This will be followed by the Disney & Marvel Game Showcase, which will show off a lot of upcoming video game content for the Marvel Universe; including a rumored new Marvel Ensemble Game.
September 10th
The second day of the three-day panel will be the most important to a lot of Marvel fans, as it is specifically branded as the Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Studios Showcase.
This should provide the greatest opportunity for some massive updates coming out of Marvel Studios over some upcoming projects, with the biggest question being what will be shown, and what will be left out.
There are a lot of rumors that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever could get a second trailer, along with the first look at Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special; as well as rumblings that the 2023 slate could be shown off a bit here.
Projects like Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumnania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have had trailers showcased at SDCC this year, and could get those shown once more; as well as projects like The Marvels, Secret Invasion, and the highly anticipated Fantastic Four possibly getting updates.
There will be some live streams available for the first day, with Saturday being only available to those in attendance at the event.
