‘Armor Wars’ Reportedly Now Being Developed into a Movie
It is among the most anticipated projects of Marvel’s Phase Five slate, as Armor Wars is reportedly now being developed into a movie, as opposed to a Disney+ series.
For Marvel fans, there are two events that are always circled on the calendar: San Diego Comic-Con and D23.
Both of these conventions give fans the opportunity to take in what’s on the horizon for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with inside looks into the development of projects set to arrive in the coming years.
At this year’s D23, one of the projects spoken about is among the most exciting in store for the MCU’s Phase Five slate and should present a fascinating story for the Marvel Universe to focus on.
It seems now that the format of that story will be a little different, as Armor Wars is reportedly now being developed into a movie, as opposed to a Disney+ series as it had so long been rumored to.
It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter, who stated, “Marvel Studios has shaken up its Armor Wars project, and now what was to have been a series for Disney+ will be redeveloped as a feature film.”
The report went on to note that, “The move essentially pushed back the title further down the development slate,” with the development process proving to the creative team that the story fits best when told in the feature film format.
Although there is still much that is unknown about the project, certain factors- such as the presence of Don Cheadle to star and Yassir Lester to act as a head writer- remain in place following this change.
The Hollywood Reporter statement also noted, “Marvel had been eyeing a 2023 start of production on the series, but the few people who were gearing up for that were notified Thursday of the change of direction. No directors had been officially attached…”
