Kevin Feige Discusses Potential Return of Elizabeth Olsen as The Scarlet Witch!
The Scarlet Witch’s journey recently came to a cliff-hanging conclusion in The Multiverse of Madness. Now, Kevin Feige clarifies whether Elizabeth Olsen will return as The Scarlet Witch.
From her MCU beginnings in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda Maximoff has become one of the MCU’s most enthralling characters. Fans have watched as she went from Avengers antagonist to a thriving Avenger member and into a budding romance with The Vision.
In Wandavision we saw Wanda deal with her greatest tragedy, losing Vision after his death to Thanos. She further created an illusory town in which she revived Vision and created two children with her hex powers, and finally, Wanda was forced to take on the witch Agatha Harkness and restore the town.
While we left Wandavision with a semblance of Wanda having dealt with her pain, she also acquired the Darkhold. The Darkhold corrupted her, prompting her to search the multiverse for her children and leading to a clash with Dr. Strange in which she destroyed Mt. Wundergore, perishing along with the mountain.
Fans were left uncertain of Wanda’s fate, did she perish along with Mt. Wundagore? Or escape at the last minute? MCU Overlord Kevin Feige appears to be clearing that up however, a recent Variety feature focused on Elizabeth Olsen touched on Olsen’s return as Wanda.
In the feature Feige gushed about Olsen’s acting ability, calling her an “outstanding actor”, and positing that they would not have been able to make such a complex character with a lesser actor.
On Olsen’s future as Wanda, Feige mentions that “there really is much more left to explore” adding ““We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics”
Truthfully, while we have seen Wanda’s comic book originated Vision romance, The Witch On Wundergore Mountain story arc, and her twin children, there are still many storylines left untouched. Much, if not all, of her storylines related to Marvel’s mutants, have yet to appear in the MCU.
Joining the Brotherhood of evil mutants, her relation to Magneto, and the iconic “no more mutants” House of M story arc have yet to appear. Further, Wiccan and Speed, created from the resurrected bodies of Billy and Tommy Maximoff, are perhaps the most likely prospects to join the MCU in the future.
Considering that the MCU has finally gotten its first official mutants in Kamala Khan and Namor, the potential of getting Wanda into mutant-based story arcs is now more likely than ever before!
Now that Feige has confirmed that the MCU will explore other comic book story arcs relat, we cannot wait to see Scarlet Witch’s future in the MCU!
